Ottawa Spring Cleanup Timeline
Ottawa's spring comes later than southern Ontario. Here's the recommended sequence for best results.
Debris Removal & Raking
Once snow has melted and ground is firm enough for foot traffic. Break up matted grass and clear winter debris.
Dethatching & Power Raking
Remove heavy thatch layer before aerating. Always dethatch before aeration for best results.
Core Aeration
Relieve soil compaction from months of snow weight. Especially important for Ottawa's clay soils in Kanata and Orleans.
Overseeding & Fertilizing
Spread seed into aerated areas and apply slow-release fertilizer. Allow ~3 weeks for germination.
First Regular Mow
Begin regular mowing once grass reaches ~3 inches. This transitions into your seasonal mowing plan.
Don't Start Too Early
Working on wet, recently thawed ground can cause ruts, further compaction, and damage to recovering turf. We monitor soil conditions and will schedule your cleanup at the optimal time for your lawn's recovery.
Important Notes & Disclaimers
- All prices are in Canadian Dollars (CAD) and subject to 13% Ontario HST.
- Pricing is based on standard residential properties up to the square footage listed per package. Properties with extensive landscaping, steep slopes, or difficult access may be quoted higher.
- Spring cleanup scheduling depends on weather and ground conditions. LNAN will not service your property if conditions risk damaging your lawn.
- Please clear outdoor furniture, toys, hoses, and other items from the lawn before your scheduled service. LNAN is not responsible for damage to items left on the property.
- LNAN is not responsible for the ongoing health of plants, as we cannot control watering, weather, insects, or other environmental factors.
- Storm-damaged tree limbs, large brush piles, and other exceptional debris may incur additional charges approved before removal.
- Spring cleanup does not include animal waste removal or biohazard materials. Please ensure pet waste is cleared before your scheduled service.
- Properties with surplus leaves left over from fall (heavy accumulation beyond normal winter debris) may require additional time and an extra charge. We'll advise on-site before proceeding.
- Compliant with City of Ottawa Property Maintenance By-law 2005-208 and Noise By-law 2017-255. All work performed 7 AM – 7 PM, Monday through Saturday.
